Organizations and people change addresses all the time.
Changing addresses Is a common action performed in CRM. It is significantly less cumbersome than managing lists of addresses in a spreadsheet. In the out-of-the-box solution the parent account's address is copied to any new contact saving time and maintaining data quality. However, the out-of-the-box solution still leaves a gap in scenarios where an organization moves, merges, or otherwise change their address - what happens to the addresses of all those related contacts?
Without address synchronization between an account and contact, this is is a manual operation. Needless to say, this is time consuming and frequently not performed even if such changes are identified. Being a high visibility data component, users that begin to see such data integrity issues start to lose faith in the solution and the decline of user adoption begins. There is nothing more embarrassing having a new sales person miss calling on a client when they visit their city.
Synchronizing account addresses automatically with all related contacts is the solution that will save time, maintain a high level of data standards, and checks the erosion of user adoption.
The address sync solution was designed to work independent of the client - thus a platform level plug-in - to ensure changes were captured from mobile devices, imports, and integrations.
Synchronization was designed to be a one-way push from an Account to all related Contacts triggered by a save to an existing account. The relationship used is the Primary Contact lookup.
Although originally designed to push only changed address fields to minimize data transmission costs, refinements led to including a comparative address check so that when a change is made to any part of an account address all the address fields are compared to those contact address fields and only those that are different are pushed to the contact.
Most users enjoy using the solution - primarily because their is nothing for them to do to use it! Creating a contact from an account provides the link necessary to maintain synchronization.
Different versions of the solution have been provided to meet the needs of our clients including solutions with management override capabilities and solutions that do not use the primary account but instead a user specified account.
